SIMPLE METHOD FOR DETERMINATION OF HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE IN HUMAN URINEBY HIGH-PERFORMANCE LIQUID-CHROMATOGRAPHY UTILIZING NARROWBORE CHROMATOGRAPHY

A simple high performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC) method utilizi ng narrowbore chromatography was developed for the determination of hy drochlorothiazide in human urine. A mobile phase of 0.1% aqueous aceti c acid-acetonitrile (93:7, v/v) pH 3 was used with a C18 analytical co lumn and ultraviolet detection (UV). The method demonstrated linearity from 2 to 50 mu g ml(-1) using 50 mu l of urine with a detection limi t of 1 mu g ml(-1). The method was utilized in a study evaluating if r acial differences are present in the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynam ic effects of hydrochlorothiazide. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
