The methodology of formulating spatio-temporal diffusion-migration equ
ations in an applied electric field for two competing diffusion proces
ses is outlined using kinetic ising model versions with the help of sp
in-exchange dynamics due to Kawasaki. The two transport processes cons
idered here correspond to bounded displacement of species attached to
supramolecular structures and electron hopping between spatially separ
ated electron transfer active centres. The dependence of the diffusion
coefficient on number density as well as the microscopic basis underl
ying phenomenological diffusion-migration equations are pointed out.
