The culture media (extracellular products) of 36 strains of Cyanobacte
ria belonging to Nostocaceae, Microchaetaceae and Scytonemataceae isol
ated from Argentine paddy fields were tested against Staphylococcus au
reus and Candida albicans. 20 strains inhibit S.aureus growth and 12 C
.albicans; only 5 inhibit growth of both human pathogens.
