Abstract
The evidence that gut and pancreatic endocrine cells are not derivativ es of the neural crest is overwhelming: yet this conclusion is still n ot universally accepted. In this editorial attention is drawn to the b ody of experimental evidence which points conclusively to gut and panc reatic endocrine cells arising from endoderm, nor the neural crest, th e neurectoderm or neuroendocrine programmed epiblast.
