Abstract
The numerical simulation of a nuclear pumped He-3-Ne-Ar gas laser (lam bda = 585.3 nm) has been made to estimate the optimal gas mixtures. Th e calculation shows that the optimization is established under a condi tion of He pressure of 2280 Torr, Ne pressure of 23 Torr, and Ar press ure of 8 Torr. The oscillation is expected to occur at a thermal neutr on flux density of 3.3 x 10(14) cm(-2) g(-1) when the cavity length is 50 cm and the mirror reflection coefficient is 99%. On the other hand s, the energy efficiency does not exceed 0.33% under the same conditio n.
