Abstract
A film compensation principle to reduce the light leakage at an obliqu e angle in in-plain-switching-mode was investigated. After optimizing the film properties, an optically compensated in-plane-switching-mode liquid crystal display was realized. The display has a biaxial compens ation film between a liquid crystal layer and a polarizer, and shows a significantly high-contrast viewing angle and good gray-scale capabil ity compared with a conventional in-plane-switching-mode liquid crysta l display.
