The goal of this study is to establish an imaging system of the temper
ature-change distribution inside the human head based on our proposed
noninvasive capacitance measurement method. In our method, capacitance
, which is dependent on permittivity, is measured using many small ele
ctrodes attached to the head. Using these data, the images of the perm
ittivity distribution are generated by a reconstruction algorithm. The
altered distribution is replaced with the temperature-change distribu
tion based on the temperature-permittivity characteristic of each tiss
ue. First, a capacitance measurement method using a pair of detecting
electrodes with various combinations of supplementary electrodes was p
roposed. In this paper, we describe a two-dimensional image of the inh
omogeneous permittivity distribution. constructed by using a brain pha
ntom and agar and applying the data measured using the proposed method
to the regularization method utilized as the reconstruction algorithm
. The possibility of reconstructing the inhomogeneous permittivity dis
tribution using the proposed method is presented. and some problems in
the reconstructed results are also discussed.
