Abstract
Environmental iodine 131 (I-131) contamination from atmospheric nuclea r bomb tests conducted in Nevada from 1951 to 1958 exposed Americans n ationwide to a cumulative dose of 1 to 4 rad to the thyroid gland. Thi s review summarizes the NCI report on this situation and offers inform ation to help health professionals deal with the report's potential '' fallout.''
