Abstract
A new system for total hip replacement (Mini TEP) in small breeds and toy breeds is presented. Two different sizes of the system are availab le. The system has to be cemented. Initial problems with the implantat ion could be overcome after special instruments were developed. Indica tions for the implantation of a Mini TEP in toy breeds are noninfectio us painful diseases of the hip joint including Legg-Perthes disease, c oxarthrosis and chronic leasons following trauma of the hip. Due to re sults the Mini TEP is preferred over excision arthroplasty.
