Ay. Garnov et al., REDUCTION OF NEPTUNIUM(V) IN ALKALI SOLUTIONS WITH FORMATE ION IN THEPRESENCE OF PALLADIUM AND PLATINUM, Radiochemistry, 40(4), 1998, pp. 319-320
In 1-5 M NaOH solutions containing formate ions, Np(V) remains unchang
ed for 5 h at 60-90 degrees C. Under the same conditions in the presen
ce of palladium salts, metallc palladium is formed, on which Np(IV) hy
droxide is precipitated. Platinum salts also act as catalysts in Np(V)
reduction with formate. This reaction proceeds in contact with anion
exchanger coated with palladium or platinum metal.
