Op. Anisimov et al., SIMULATION OF MOLECULAR-IODINE EXTRACTION BY RED-4 (DEAROMATIZED DILUENT FOR EXTRACTION), Radiochemistry, 40(4), 1998, pp. 333-337
A regression equation was constructed providing adequate description o
f iodine distribution between organic and aqueous phases as a function
of their volume ratio. In recovery of iodine from aqueous solutions c
ontaining 20-120 mg/l of iodine with extraction diluent RED-4 the opti
mal volume ratio between the organic and aqueous phases is within the
range (1:3)-(1:4). For centrifugal extractor the extraction efficiency
(the ratio between the theoretical and real numbers of the extraction
stages) is 0.42+/-0.03. Correlation between the real number of extrac
tion stages and the fraction of iodine retained in the aqueous phase (
degree of iodine recovery) is described by the power function with neg
ative exponent.
