Abstract
A new method of a biological fracture treatment - the No Contact Plate (NCP) - is described. Tt-ie NCP is a new monocortical bone plate syst em with no contact to the bone.Experimental studies which compared thi s new method with the established Dynamic Compression Plate (DCP)- ost eosynthesis at models and tibiae of dead dogs revealed similar results . Eleven dogs with fractures of the femur and tibia were treated with the NCP. The healing time of the fractures was half the time compared to fractures treated with the DCP. No avascularisation or necrotic def ects of periost or cortical bone were seen under the plate.
