Abstract
The effect of beta blockade on heart rate in patients with either idiopathi c or ischemic cardiomyopathy was studied. It was found that beta blockade r educed the early morning increase in heart rate to a greater extent in pati ents with idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy than in those with ischemic dil ated cardiomyopathy.
