Abstract
Catalytic properties of CuCl2 catalysts supported on activated carbon in th e synthesis of dimethyl carbonate by oxidative carbonylation of methanol we re investigated. Structural changes during the reaction were studied. It wa s suggested that dimethyl carbonate formation rate is strongly related to C l/Cu ratio and CO formation rate is higher on the catalyst with Cu oxychlor ide than on that with Cu-Cl-OH.
