On the basis of spectroscopic CCD material obtained at the Haute Provence O
bservatory, we provide line identifications and equivalent width measuremen
ts in the wavelength region 4086 - 8780 Angstrom of the spectrum of MWC 17.
Four hundred emission features are identified and seventeen absorption fea
tures. Six interstellar bands could be identified. Some of the remaining ab
sorption lines correspond to an early B type star. The emission lines of th
e envelope correspond approximately to a spectrum of an AO type star.
The star presents variations in the equivalent widths of its lines which co
rrespond to a factor of about two over a time scale of days.
