Abstract
The classification for the aquatic environment is based on the intrinsic pr operties, namely the ecotoxicity endpoints on three aquatic species and on the endpoints related to bioaccumulation and degradation, This study define d clearly the probability of error of classification based on an incomplete file (lack of one ecotoxicity endpoint and particularly the algae endpoint absent before the 7(th) amendment) compared to the classification with a c omplete file (base-set). This study demonstrated also that the four endpoin ts undoubtedly do not have the same weight with respect to the final classi fication. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
