Jp. Chopart et al., New experimental device for convective mass-transport analysis by electrokinetic-hydrodynamic effect, EL SOLID ST, 1(3), 1998, pp. 139-141
A new device makes it possible to superimpose a tangential electric field a
long a plane working electrode. Therefore, an increase of limiting electrol
ytic currents arises due to a convective mass-transport effect. The latter,
called electrokinetic-hydrodynamic (EKHD) effect is analyzed under station
ary and dynamic conditions, and a new transfer function is thus obtained. T
he relationship between the electrolytic current and the tangential electri
c field under EKHD conditions is determined. Finally, a comparison is made
between the EKHD tangential electric field and the one which has been suppo
sed to exist in the presence of a magnetic field. (C) 1998 The Electrochemi
