Abstract
"Bit seats" refer to the rounded and smoothed rostral surface of the second premolars. It is created to improve comfort in the mouth of performance ho rses. We designed a study to determine the effects of bit seats on both the athletic and eating performance of the horse. We found that bit seats crea ted no adverse effects in athletic or eating performance and that trainers recognized on improvement in athletic performance of most horses after the bit seats were created.
