Abstract
Porin OmpC from Escherichia coli was reconstituted in liposomes and its gat ing kinetics were recorded at high hydrostatic pressure, up to 90 MPa, usin g a development of the patch clamp technique. The composition of the record ing solution influenced the results but generally high hydrostatic pressure favoured channel opening. (C) 1999 Federation of European Microbiological Societies.
