Abstract
Polypeptide chain elongation factor 1 alpha (EF1 alpha) was cloned from a l iver cDNA library of medaka Orizias latipes. The analysis of the clone cont aining 1.6 kbp DNA revealed that the entire open reading frame of EF1 alpha was 1383 bp long. Deduced amino acid sequence of medaka EF1 alpha showed h igh similarity (more than 87% identity) with those of other vertebrates. Me daka EF1 alpha had one amino acid deletion at the position of 447 amino aci d of other EF1 alpha s and unique 17 replacement against those of other ver tebrates. Northern hybridization analysis revealed that this EF1 alpha was expressed in all tissues tested.
