Abstract
The synthesis of the complexes [(eta5-C5H5)Fe(CO)(L){=C(NHR1)(R2)}]BF4 [L = PPh3, P(p-Tol)3; R1 = Me, CH2Ph; R2 = Me, Bu] is described. Phot ofragmentation voltammetry is used to demonstrate that the primary pho toprocess is loss of the phosphine ligand in all four carbene complexe s. A common intermediate is observed when the analogous aminocarbenes are studied.
