An amplitude equation is obtained on the base of weakly nonlinear theo
ry for flows with the quadratic friction and modified beta-effect both
describing an influence of turbulent Ekman layer on global atmospheri
c flows. Nonlinear stabilization of flows under certain conditions is
demonstrated.
