Abstract
Treatment of Mn(CO)5Cl with trimethylamine N-oxide in CH2Cl2 in the pr esence of [PPN]NO2 [PPN+ = (Ph3P)2N+] yields the new dianion [Mn3(CO)6 (mu2-NO2)4(mu2-ONO)2]2-, which has been shown to contain a trinuclear Mn3 mixed valence unit linked by both nitro- and nitrito-bridges.
