Abstract
The reaction of PdCl2(cod) with Mg[CH(SiMe3)(2)]Cl and PMe3 gives the dimer ic species {Pd[CH(SiMe3)(2)](mu-Cl)(PMe3)}(2) (2), which, in the presence o f PMe3 and Me2PCH2CH2PMe2 (dmpe) affords the monomeric alkyls Pd[CH(SiMe3)( 2)]Cl(PMe3)(2) (3) and Pd[CH(SiMe3)(2)]Cl(dmpe) (4), respectively. Compound 3 is obtained as a mixture of cis and trans isomers, in a ratio that depen ds on the polarity of the solvent, as deduced from H-1- and P-31{H-1}-NMR s pectra. Some methatetical reactions are also reported. Spectroscopic and X- ray results obtained for the indenyl derivative (eta-Ind)Pd[CH(SiMe3)(2)](P Me3) (7) are discussed. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science S.A.
