Abstract
Systematic observations are carried out on the molecular alignment in monol ayers of mixtures of n-cyanobiphenyl (nCB) liquid crystals such as n =7CB t o 12CB on a molybdenum disulfide substrate (MoS2) using a scanning tunnelin g microscope. Several different types of specific alignments of the mixture s are observed depending on the mixture rate and the combination of nCB. Th ere are also mixture combinations in which no specific alignment is observe d.
