Three new species of genera of the Collemataceae with simple ascospores are
described: Ramalodium dumosum sp, nov. and Ramalodium fecundissimum sp. no
v. from New Zealand, and Staurolemma fruticosum sp. nov. from Australia. Th
e three lichens correspond in the homoiomerous, gelatinous thallus and pycn
idial type; they differ in the developmental morphology of the ascocarp, th
e dinstinguishing feature of the two genera. The apothecia are lecideine in
Ramalodium but zeorine in Staurolemma. An emendation of the generic diagno
sis of Ramalodium and Staurolemma and keys for the determination of the spe
cies are given.
