Abstract
The absorption spectrum of the aluminum atom near the ground-state photoion ization threshold is obtained in an aluminum-doped plasma of organic compos ition at temperature T = 20 000 +/- 2000 K and pressure p = 280 +/- 40 atm. The long-wavelength extension of the continuous absorption with respect to a wavelength corresponding to the photoionization threshold of an unpertur bed atom is observed, no dip being found in the cross section near the thre shold.
