Sudden cardiac death in the pediatric population is rare. However, when it
does occur it is a devastating event that appropriately raises anxiety and
concerns within the general community. This article reviews the entities th
at can be associated with sudden cardiac death in infants, children, and ad
olescents. In addition to briefly discussing some of the treatment modaliti
es for these specific, entities, the authors advise general pediatricians a
nd family practitioners as to how the children at risk for sudden cardiac d
eath may be identified.
