Abstract
The infrared spectra of solid oxygen, in the overtone region, have been mea sured in the delta and in the epsilon phases at low and room temperature up to 60 GPa. The two structured bands observed in the a phase are assigned t o the combination of the infrared active mode with itself and with the Rama n active mode, respectively. Performing a deconvolution of the spectral pro file the densities of states of the infrared and Raman active vibrational m odes are obtained. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
