JIT purchasing: literature review and implications for Indian industry

Purchasing has became a vital part of just-in-time (JIT) systems because of its potential for quality improvement and cost saving. This paper reviews and classifies the literature on JIT purchasing, The importance of attribut es in JIT purchasing has been identified. A survey of the attributes was ca rried out in Indian context. The relative importance of such attributes is highlighted. Based upon this work, some research directions are also identi fied which need close scrutiny.
