The International Time System

The international reference rime scales TAI and UTC are realized in a well- organized international collaboration between 45 timing-centres distributed world-wide and the International Bureau of Weights and Measures BIPM. The individual steps of the realization and the properties of these scales and of corresponding local realizations of atomic and coordinate time in some n ational timing centres are illustrated.
