Thermal transformations of nitromethane and deuterated acetonitrile adsorbe
d on the surface of H-ZSM-5, Cu-ZSM-5, Co-ZSM-5 has been studied by IR spec
troscopy. The nature of cation has been found to greatly affect the transfo
rmation pathways of these species as possible intermediates in the NOx sele
ctive reduction by hydrocarbons, thus explaining the different selectivitie
s of these catalysts.
