Abstract
IE is shown, for the example of a laboratory solenoid that, without using e xpensive superconducting wire, magnetic fields above 50 kOe may be obtained by means of a magnetizing winding of superpure A999 aluminum. The fundamen tals of the design and the initial experimental data are given.
