Abstract
The treatment of alkyl 2-chloroacetoacetate with carbohydrazide, succinic o r adipic dihydrazide produces the relevant alpha,alpha'-dichlorobishydrazon es. In the presence of sodium carbonate, these compounds react at room temp erature with beta-diketones, beta-ketoesters or beta-ketoamides to give ris e to functionalized 1-carbonylaminopyrrole rings spaced by a variable numbe r of methylene groups.
