High pressure synthesis of new silicon containing heteroatom analogues of fused norbornenes

The synthesis of fused norbomene analogues containing silicon and oxygen at oms in bridgehead positions is reported. This novel type of compound can be readily obtained in stereospecific Diels-Alder [4+2] cycloaddition of silo les with oxanorbornene derivatives as appropriate dienophiles by the use of high pressure (9 kbar).
