Al. Giulietti et al., EXPERIMENT OF A STRAIN WITH HIGH LIPOLYTIC-ACTIVITY IN INDUSTRIAL EFFLUENTS, Boletin de la Sociedad Chilena de Quimica, 43(3), 1998, pp. 267-272
From samples of effluent derived from a biological treatment plant of
a mayonnaise and margarine producing factory, several bacteria strains
presenting a high lipolytic activities (between 0.2 and 0.6 u/ml) wer
e isolated. The strain having the highest activity (0.6 u/ml) was used
for treating a typical final effluent and the results obtained were c
ompared with those achieved with Yarrowia lipolytica and Saccharomycop
sis lipolytica strains. The isolated strain showed a higher specific c
apacity for reducing chemical oxygen demand (COD), about 38%, more tha
n the other strains.
