Gli Abieti-Faggeti del comprensorio di confine tra Abruzzo e Molise (Italia centro-meridionale)

The beech-forest characterized by Abies alba and located on the boundary area between Abruzzo e Molise were investigated. The recognized types are assigned to Aquifolio-Fagetum abietosum albae and Aceri lobelii-Fagetum abietetosum albae of the Doronico-Fagion alliance, and to Polystichho aculeati-Fagetum abietetosum subass. nova of the Fagion sylvaticae one. The distribution area of Aceri lobelii-Fagetum is north-extended to the southern Abruzzo. The territorial differential species of the association were identified and the considerable floristic richness was underlined. The study confirms the role of Abies alba as an indicator of the most evolute beach forests in the Apennines with low anthropization level.
