Coherent amplification of a nondegenerate light (such as that emitted thermally or by any nonlaser source) is shown to be virtually impossib le, because the increase in the light intensity that can be achieved i s by several orders of magnitude smaller than the spontaneous emission intensity of an amplifying medium.
