Vg. Bespalov et al., GENERATION OF FEMTOSECOND LIGHT-PULSES IN THE UV AND VISIBLE SPECTRALREGIONS IN STIMULATED RAMAN-SCATTERING IN COMPRESSED GASES, Optics and spectroscopy, 85(2), 1998, pp. 305-313
Stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) in compressed H-2, D-2, HD, and CH4
gases excited by pulses of the second harmonic of radiation of a titan
ium-doped sapphire laser (390 nm) with duration of 300 fs and energy o
f up to 100 mu J is studied. The results of these studies offer promis
e for the use of SRS in compressed gases for the conversion of radiati
on of femtosecond pulses with the feasibility of choosing frequency sh
ifts in the range from 150 to 4155 cm(-1). The analysis of SRS spectra
shows that the self-action phenomena, which cause the depletion of ef
fective power of pump radiation because of a manyfold broadening of it
s spectrum, are of substantial importance.
