New nonlinear optical properties of an acentric cubic NaClO3 crystal w
ere investigated. At room temperature under picosecond excitation effi
cient high-order stimulated Raman scattering in the visible and near-I
R regions was observed. A total conversion efficiency of the 1-mu m Nd
3+:Y3Al5O12 laser-pump emission to Stokes and anti-Stokes lines of abo
ut 70% was estimated. All registered scattered laser components were i
dentified. We classify the NaClO3 single crystal as a promising chi((3
)) medium for Raman lasers.
