Abstract
The Th1/Th2 dichotomy has become a central paradigm in immunoregulatio n, Here, Luciano Adorini and Sylvie Trembleau address the validity of this paradigm for understanding the regulation of autoimmune diabetes. They conclude that the concept is largely valid, although the oversim plification intrinsic to the Th1 pathogenic/Th2 protective paradigm ca nnot describe all the intricacies of the immune response in IDDM.
