Abstract
The effect of the diffusion vertex on the electronic density of states (DOS at the Fermi level is carefully reanalyzed in three dimensions. It results in the reduction of the DOS at the Fermi level, besides the known increase as root\epsilon\ on both the sides of the Fermi level. The DOS at the Fermi level is quantitatively evaluated. It is also sh own that the electron-phonon interaction causes a logarithmic dip in t he DOS at the Fermi level, but the overall effect is negligible. (C) 1 998 Elsevier Science B.V.
