Abstract
The performance of 19 BBC-TV production teams was examined over an 18- month period, using audience appreciation ratings and managers' assess ments of performance. Alternative models were tested to account for va riations in team effectiveness and team member mental health. Reflexiv ity-the extent to which the team reflects on and modifies its function ing-best predicted team effectiveness, whereas climate for innovation predicted ream member mental health. Larger teams (over 10 members) te nded to have poorer climates for innovation and poorer team member men tal health.
