The probability of formation of various final electronic configuration
s of an atom flying away from a metal surface is considered. Equations
of the multilevel model are solved by the method representing the two
-time modification of the Bogolyubov averaging method. Within the fram
ework of this method, solutions of the equations are obtained in the i
mproved first approximation. The expressions are presented for excitat
ion probabilities of a flying away atom in the two-level model.
