M. Quesadaperez et al., EFFECTIVE CHARGE ON POLYMER COLLOIDS OBTAINED USING A RENORMALIZATIONMODEL, Journal of colloid and interface science (Print), 206(1), 1998, pp. 354-356
Static light scattering has been used to study the electrostatic inter
action between colloidal particles. Experiments were carried out using
a latex with a very small diameter, allowing structure determination
at high particle concentration. The obtained effective charge characte
rizing this interaction is found to be smaller than the bare charge de
termined from titration. A renormalization model connecting both value
s has been used. The agreement between the renormalized charge and tha
t obtained from scattering data seems to point out that this model ope
rates well. (C) 1998 Academic Press.
