Abstract
A new technique for measuring the size distribution of anaerobic granu lar sludge, which involves the use of digital image analysis, is prese nted. Sludge samples are embedded in gelatin, spread over glass dishes , which are then placed over a flat-bed scanner where an image is capt ured. The images are processed with an image analysis software. The te chnique is simple, reliable and does not need any special equipment.
