Treatment of triarylbismuth difluorides with aryl- and alkenylboronic
acids in the presence of BF3. OEt2 afforded tetraaryl- and alkenyltria
rylbismuthonium tetrafluoroborates, respectively, while similar treatm
ent of diphenyltellurinyl difluoride yielded the corresponding telluro
nium salts. The chirality at bismuth was observed for the first time f
rom the H-1 NMR spectrum of an asymmetrical bismuthonium salt.
