Abstract
Lispro insulin is the first synthetic insulin analog commercially avai lable for the treatment of diabetes. Its vapid absorption and short ha lf-life results in both advantages and disadvantages to the patient wi th diabetes. Understanding the physiology of normal insulin secretion and the pathophysiology of diabetes is paramount to optimizing Lispro insulin in patients with diabetes.
