Abstract
The convergence and regularization properties of the conjugate gradien t algorithm applied to the inverse hear conduction problem are conside red for a time-dependent boundary heat flux. An analysis based on both numerical and analytical results clearly shows that the convergence p rocess of the algorithm is strongly frequency-dependent and provides i n this way a very efficient regularization mechanism against the desta bilizing effect of random errors in the input data.
