G. Grunefeld et al., MEASUREMENT SYSTEM FOR SIMULTANEOUS SPECIES DENSITIES, TEMPERATURE, AND VELOCITY DOUBLE-PULSE MEASUREMENTS IN TURBULENT HYDROGEN FLAMES, Combustion science and technology, 135(1-6), 1998, pp. 135-152
A laser-based measurement system has been developed that is capable of
measuring the densities of all majority species, temperature and velo
cities simultaneously in turbulent hydrogen flames. The experiment aim
s on complete characterization of the instantaneous combustion situati
on in the probe volume. The measurement of these quantities is perform
ed twice with a short time delay (mu s-ms) using two laser pulses. Thi
s double-pulse technique is performed in order to monitor the temporal
development of turbulent mixing and combustion. It is expected that t
he chain of cause and effect of mixing and combustion processes can be
studied in detail by monitoring the situation over a sufficiently sho
rt time step. The novel measurement technique is discussed in detail a
nd first experimental results are presented.
